If I want to post a video in one place and then show it on multiple sites, how do I do it?
If I want to post a video in one place and then show it on multiple sites, how do I do it?
Solution
To accomplish this, you'll need to take advantage of the Advanced Options in Step 3 of FLV Producer.
There are three fields here.
First is the "Use External FLV Player URL" field. In this field, type the url of the location where you'll upload your player.swf file. For example you might type in something looking like this:
http://www.yourdomain/videos/
Be sure to type in the location only, followed by a forward slash, as you see in the example above. Do not type in the player file name--FLV Producer does that for you.
The second field is the "Use External FLV File URL" field. In this field, type in the url of the location where you'll upload your video .flv file. For example you might type in something looking like this:
http://www.yourdomain/videos/
Again, just type the location here, followed by that forward slash. The video file name will be put there automatically by FLV Producer.
The third field is the "Use External Javascript File" field. You'll notice that the default entry in this field has only the file name and no location url. If you don't put a full url here, the code will assume that your .js file is uploaded to the same location as the webpage you're playing the video on. If you want to use the same video for more than one page, you'll need to type in the full url, INCLUDING the .js file name. For example you might type in something looking like this:
http://www.yourdomain/videos/flvpcode.js
Now that all your Advanced Options fields are completed, finish up in step 3, and click Produce Web Page. You can either get your code from that resulting html file, or you can click the Get Code button for the FLV Producer code you'll put on all the websites you want playing your video.
The next step is to upload your player.swf file, your video's .flv file, and your .js file. In our example, you would upload them all to the "videos" folder in your main html webspace. No matter what, make sure those files are uploaded to the location(s) you specified in your Advanced Options fields.
The only thing left to do now is to paste the FLV Producer code into your webpage code, wherever you want the video to appear. You'll use the same code for each webpage on which you want to display this video.
